Cardio and toning!

Hey guys, this is a simple cardio and toning routine!
 
Alright, you can either do this on a treadmill or outside! All you have to do is start out at a brisk walk for 2 minutes (brisk = fast!) FASTTT walk lol, then proceed to jog at a moderate pace for 2 minutes, and finally sprint for 30 seconds. Continue this cycle for half an hour. I like doing this because it speeds up your heart rate more quickly and will burn fat more efficiently.
 
After this cardio, I like to do something simple for my legs, arms, and abs because the cardio tires you out!
 
1) ABS: do 100 crunches, 50 bicycle crunches
 
2) ARMS: 15 pushups. You can do two sets of 15 if you think this is not enough
 
3) LEGS: I like sumo squats better than regular squats because they work your inner thighs. To do a sumo squat, start out in the regular squat position, but spread your legs wider and turn your toes out. Because a lot of you liked the hints last time, I decided to provide some more (: Enjoy!
 
1) If you take a really cold bath, your body raises its temperature by using calories! Don't make the water too cold though. Only do this if you are really overheated after being outside, or working out, it's a nice way to cool off and burn more calories!
 
2) Eat lots of fiber, not only does it make you feel full, it takes fat with it out of your body. It also cleanses you, and boosts your energy level! Foods high in fiber are: apples with skin on them, grapefruit, bananas, beans, almonds, avocado, and roaster sunflower seeds!
 
3) A full nght of sleep helps your body burn calories! If you are 130 pounds, you burn 400 calories just from sleeping!
 
4) Spicy foods raise your metabolism! Which burns more calories!
 
5) If you get less than 6 hours of sleep per night, you can lower your metabolism up to 15%! So you burn less calories :( Also, not sleeping can leave you feeling VERY hungry throughout the day
 
6) You burn 10% more calories when you sit up straight
 
7) If you eat a meal and still feel hungry after it, WAIT twenty minutes! Why? Because the stomach takes twenty minutes to tell the brain it's full. If you keep eating, you may feel bloated and have an upset tummy.
 
8) Do not eat infront of the tv or computer, it distracts your body so it doesn't know when to stop.
 
9) READ nutrition info and serving size! A can of tuna may say it has 60 calories, but the serving size is two, so it has 60 calories per SERVING. SO it actually has 120. (Not that that is bad AT ALL it's just an example)
 
10) Chew your food really well, and drink water
with your meal, when you take your time, you feel full faster AND this also helps your body digest the food better.
 
11) When you are feeling hungry between meals, brush your teeth or chew a piece of gum. I'd recommend minty gum because no food tastes good after chewing mint gum haha
 
12) When you are sitting in a chair, do a quickie ab workout. Lift and lower your legs without touching them back to the chair.
 
13) In the shower, do a little dance, it's a shower + small workout!

Weekly Workout Plan
When you do a weekly workout, you want to do different parts of the body everyday. If you dont, the muscles in that area will be under stress so they can't develop. Here is a workout plan that will help you get your whole body toned, tan fit and ready!! (I stole that line from california gurls :P )
 
Monday: 30-45 minutes of Cardio (like I said, anything that gets your heart pumping) For example, jog around your neighborhood, or with a buddy, bikeriding, swimming, treadmills, fast walking, beach volleyball.
 
Tuesday: Arms. start with 15 pushups, afterwards (I found a REALLY great video for arms!) do this arm workout here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhiHbBWTuqo you don't need weights, only a chair. I would explain the positions myself, but I dont want to confuse anyone, so that video is perfect. BTW in the video when she says "do 10 reps and 3 sets" that means do that specific workout 10 times in a row, three different times. So you end up doing the workout thirty times.
 
Wednesday: Abs. You can either do my "five minute abs" (The set before this) and/or you can follow this video (I know! Another video, but seriously, its from a program called "p90x" one of my friends used it and had great results, I found a small video of it on youtube that I tried myself, so follow it!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtOZDvJ1lDo
 
Thursday: Lower body. Do 30 lunges..heres a picture of lunges incase you dont know how to do them: http://www.iliveeasy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/lunges.jpg MAKE SURE to alternate legs so for the first lunge, put your left leg forward, for the next, put your right leg forward. Next, do a wall sit for 60 seconds, or longer if you're not hurting too bad..here's a wall sit picture: http://jhucooleycenter.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/Picture_009.268154916_std.jpg. Next do 30 calf raises. Position yourself standing flat on the ground, than stand on your tiptoes, hold for a couple seconds, and go back down to flat feet. If you want to, you can also go for a 20 minute run or bikeride.

Five Minute Abs
Better than crunches! Flatter abs, rock that swimsuit body! "Five minute Abs" is a workout that has five sequences of ab workouts, that last about a minute for each one. Sounds easy right? The tricky thing is, is you CANNOT take breaks between each workoutl you must do them all in a row! So here are the five workouts! Do this twice a day for best results (:
 
1) 25 leg lifts. Position yourself flat on the ground, lying on your back, head and shoulders on the floor. Keep both of your legs and raise them to about a 45 degree angle, hold for two seconds, than bring them back to the floor; but DO NOT TOUCH them on the floor or it will wreck the workout. Also, make sure not to arch your back, keep the rest of your body flat as your legs lift and lower. If it does arch, badly, or your abs aren't that strong bring your legs higher when you lift. 2) 60 bicycle crunches. Position yourself with your head and shoulders off the floor, your hands behing your head, your legs in the air, knees bent. Then, bring your right elbow to your left knee, while pushing the other leg out. Keep repeating this motion. 3) Side plank for 60 seconds. To start, position yourself laying on your side, then lift your body up with the arm that is on the ground, and the sides of your feet. (your body should be tight and your legs should be tightly together so you don't fall. Lift your opposite arm straight in the air. 4) Do 60 regular crunches.
 
5) Do 60 leg flutters. Position yourself flat on the ground, arms flat by your side. Then, lift your head and shoulders off the floor, and lft your feet slightly from the floor. Your arms should now be straight out infront of you, pointed towards your feet. Proceed to flutter your legs up and down quickly without ever touching them to the ground. Everyone is always dying to know little hints that will help them burn more calories, well, you're in luck! Here are some that could really help...
 
1)ALWAYS eat breakfast and don't skip meals! Breakfast starts your metabolism for the day. (your metabolsim is the thing that burns calories..) if you don't eat breakfast or skip a meal, your metabolism will be sluggish, and you will burn far less calories throughout the day
 
2) If you feel hunger, chances are you may just be dehydrated, so drink two big glasses of cold water (each glass burns nearly 20 calories!) and if twenty minutes later, you still feel hungry, have a LIGHT snack, like celery and peanut butter, or a small apple.
 
3) Ice water burns nearly 20 calories per glass AND assists your body in ridding it of calories and toxins!
 
4) DO NOT eat past 6:30, or four hours before you go to sleep. If you do, the food you ate will turn to fat. Not only that, but you feel GROSS in the morning, like there is lead in your stomach :( You may also be bloated!
 
5) Do cardio for 30-60 minutes 6 days a week
(cardio is anything that makes your heart pump!) Go for a run! Swim! bikeride!
 
6) When you go jogging, try changing up the pace, it burns more calories. For example, jog 10 minutes, fast walk 10 minutes, sprint for five minutes.
 
7) Get a friend who is willing to workout with you!
 
8) DO NOT EAT BETWEEN MEALS! OR LATE NIGHT SNACK! This is a huge reason why a lot of people gain weight!
 
9)When you are eating meals, make sure to fill up on healthy fruits and veggies!
 
10) Do not drink pop, not only is it bad for you, but it's nearly 200 calories! If you have one a day, that's 1,400 calories in a week! There are 3,500 calories in a pound!
 
11) This may sound funny, but it actually helps! When you are bored (and there's noone around,) squeeze your butt and hold it for five seconds, then release. Do 15 of these three times throughout the day, or as much as you want! It tones your booty, and gets rid of butt fat!
 
12) Eat foods that contain water in them, like tomatoes and watermeIon! Because they are roughly 90% water, they fill you up more without all the calories!
